Our Philosophy on Food

At Let Your Food Be Your Medicine, we believe in these fundamental principles of wellness: whole food nutrition, organic whenever possible, and enzymes from plant based sources.

WHOLE FOOD NUTRITION

When Hippocrates famously proclaimed, “Let your food be your medicine, and let your medicine be your food,” he was not referring to the processed, packaged, nutritionally poor food that fills the grocery shelves today. He was referring to fresh, unprocessed foods that are filled with nutrients and enzymes.

Food enzymes are destroyed at temperatures between 105 – 118 F degrees.  In processed foods, enzymes have been intentionally destroyed in the cooking process in order to extend shelf life.  A piece of fruit may last a week sitting on your kitchen counter.  Then it will begin to decompose, due to the enzyme activity.  These same enzymes, once consumed, perform essential tasks in your body: they help digest food and extract the nutrients that are crucial to your health.

Compare that to a fruit roll-up  – those will last in your pantry indefinitely, since they have no enzymes.

Is is imperative to consume foods that are raw, unprocessed, and rich in enzymes.

ORGANIC

What you eat and drink becomes your body.  The water you drink becomes your blood.  Most foods are full of pesticides, growth hormones, antibiotics, etc.  The body must attempt to process these foreign materials.  When it can’t, it attempts to eliminate them.  Because most people have compromised digestive systems, and these materials are not recognized by the body – in fact, are toxic to the body – we store those toxins in our fat cells.   Our bodies become overloaded with toxins, resulting in sickness and disease.  Why put that added stress on ourselves?  Why intentionally poison yourself?  You may think that organic is more expensive and you can’t afford it.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  You are worth it.  Invest in yourself.  Buy organic.

Your vitamins and minerals should come from whole food sources.  This is what I call whole food nutrition.  An acerola cherry, for example, is a good source of vitamin C.  It contains the full spectrum of the C vitamin, not just the ascorbic acid that is commonly found in most C vitamins that you find in most drug stores. The processed vitamin is devoid of the enzymes necessary to carry that vitamin into the cell walls so your body can utilize it.

ENZYMES

Nutrition is the fuel for the entire body:  the question is – how well do you digest and assimilate?  You can’t do either without enzymes. With enzyme activity becomes food for cells. Without enzyme activity it becomes waste.

Enzyme Formulations provides a complete line of enzymes designed to help the body maintain homeostasis and perform the way it was designed:  No disease, vibrant health, energy, restful sleep.

Enzyme Formulations products contain enzymes from plant sources.
